Life on life: C&T colleagues share with high school students in LEAP project
Hong Kong, January 19, 2018 - As a pioneer of the IT industry, C&T encourages young people to explore their own career path, and is devoted to providing a breeding ground for young IT talents to meet the long-term development of the industry. Following the treasurable experience of mentoring youngsters in 2016/17 Life & Career Education Mentorship Project (LEAP) led by HKUGA Education Foundation, C&T continues its support with greater effort through sending representatives from different departments to act as life mentors in the new academic year of 2017/18.
LEAP aims to enable students to learn through direct dialogue with mentors from various industries. From their mentors’ personal experience, students can understand better attitudes and ethics needed for career development, appropriate workplace culture, and prepare themselves for future careers.
Early in November 2017, C&T’s representatives joined the program’s briefing session with other participating corporations’ mentors and got ready sharing with the millennials. Representattives from IPL HRMS first met their mentees in Ning Po College on January 5, Friday. During the group interaction session, they introduced the mentees to the basic background of the IT industry and C&T’s products and solutions, through which the students learned more about the business operations and daily challenges faced in the company.
Students showed interest in the industry with overwhelming discussion in the group. Both representatives also hoped their personal experience could bring enlightenment and positive impact to the young fellows on goal setting and life planning in the IT industry. Other life mentors from C&T will soon meet their mentees at different secondary schools to share and interact with each other to capture meaningful life experiences together.
