C&T silver anniversary: 25 years of success in changing the world with IT
Hong Kong, May 19, 2017 - Since the establishment in 1991, C&T operates its business on a vision to build a better world with information technology. This year marks the 25th anniversary of C&T, a key milestone for looking back on the Group’s numerous achievements through the years and looking ahead for continued devotion to supporting the development of Hong Kong with information technology.
The journey of C&T began with three enthusiastic young men holding the same dream, and one of them is the Group’s founder and Chairman, Ir. Ng Cheung Shing. They set off by renting a little space of just about 100 square feet inside the Bank of China Tower and devoted numerous days and nights to software development, opening the extraordinary road of their life for a successful business that speaks with information technology.
With a pioneering vision in the IT industry, the Hong Kong-based C&T quickly expanded its business to Mainland China with branch offices in Beijing and Shanghai. Early in 1992, C&T gained its first business achievement with its Automated Futures & Commodities Exchange Systems (AFCES) that automated trading and settlement of commodities and futures for Shanghai Stock Exchange, contributing to the development of the Chinese economy. In 1998, C&T was listed in the main board of Hong Kong Stock Exchange (Stock Code: SEHK00046). The Group has steadily grown its business and continuously distributed dividends to the shareholders in recognition of their support.
Throughout its strategic business growth, C&T has made a number of acquisitions and diversified its software offerings, covering human resources management (HRM), enterprise information management (EIM), enterprise procurement management (EPM) and enterprise retail management (ERM). These are all best-of-breed software products that are adopted in a wide spectrum of industries, reaching from Hong Kong far into other Asian countries and the globe with over 1000 installation points. Excellent credentials of IT solutions also have made C&T one of the government’s most quality, reliable service providers, particularly in Government Electronic Trading Services (GETS) for the trading community of Hong Kong since 2004. Customers from local conglomerates to multinational corporations are also empowered by the Group to grow their businesses of clothing, food, housing, transportation and other essential aspects of daily life and even highly-specialized professional services.
Continuously expanding, C&T moved the headquarters from Sai Ying Pun to Quarry Bay, and then Cyberport with 20,000 square feet of office space. Together with the offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Shenzhen and Macau, the Group now has over 400 employees. Understanding the importance of integrating corporate social responsibilities of high standard to its business values and operations, C&T endeavors to foster the well-being of the staff as well as the community and the environment. The Group has been awarded “Caring Company” by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service since 2014 in recognition of its dedication to promoting corporate social responsibility.
Besides continuing our commitment to the community, C&T has sponsored international IT event Internet Economy Summit 2017 (10-12 Apr) to share with the public C&T’s contribution to Hong Kong’s IT industry over the years and its support for future development. Optimistic about the future, Group Chairman Ir. Ng Cheug Shing said, “Walking through a quarter of a century is especially meaningful for a locally listed IT company. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude for the contribution of the C&T family, who have turned countless impossible missions into accomplishments. C&T is fully backed to reach new heights.”
